Piraeus Port Car Rental – No Credit Card, No Deposit

Piraeus is where most visitors reach Athens by sea, whether on a ferry from the islands or on a cruise ship. 888 Car Rentals can meet you at the Port of Piraeus with your car. You don't need a credit card, and with full insurance with zero excess you don't leave a deposit either.

Important: ferries and leaving Greece

Picking up at the port is meant for driving in Attica and on the Greek mainland. Under our rental terms, taking the car on a ferry or across the Greek border is not allowed without our written authorization, and doing so terminates the contract without refund.

If you are thinking of taking the car on a ferry to an island, ask us before you book and we will tell you what is possible.

How port pickup works

1. Book online and choose the Port of Piraeus as your pickup location.
2. Send us the name of your ferry or cruise ship and its arrival time on WhatsApp, and keep us posted if it is running late.
3. We meet you at the port with the car, check it together with you and hand over the keys.
4. Return the car at the drop-off point you chose when booking — the port too, if you are leaving by sea.

Any delivery fee is shown during booking when you choose the pickup location, so you see the full price before you confirm.

Cruise stopovers and day trips

If your ship spends a day in Piraeus, a car lets you see Athens and the coast at your own pace. Plan to be back early: a delay of 2 hours counts as one full day's rental, and your ship will not wait. Up to 150 km per day is included, which is plenty for a day around Attica; extra kilometres are charged at €0.25/km, or you can add the unlimited mileage package for a small extra charge.

No credit card, no deposit

Payment is made in advance, in cash or by card — no credit card needed. Choose full insurance with zero excess for a small daily amount and no deposit is required. Otherwise, drivers aged 21 and over get CDW with an excess free of charge, paid as a refundable deposit that is returned after the car is inspected on delivery; drivers aged 18–20 are covered by basic insurance.

Documents and fuel

• Your passport or national ID card.
• Your driving licence, issued at least one year ago, plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) if it was issued outside the EU.
• Return the car with the same fuel level as at pickup; less fuel is charged, and there is no refund for extra fuel.
